When the school year ends, many children that receive free or reduced lunches may not be receiving a regular meal during the summer months. The Summer Feeding Program, coordinated by Food Bank of the Albemarle serves thousands of meals to hungry children in Pasquotank, Perquimans and Chowan Counties.
This year, the Summer Feeding Program served over 3,000 breakfast meals, 6,000 lunches and provided 2,000 healthy snacks to children at 17 sites in the aforementioned counties. All meals meet the nutritional guidelines as required by USDA.
