Hunger Action Month runs all throughout the month of September and is an opportunity for the public to take action against hunger in our communities. Here are some ways you can help:
Volunteer with the Food Bank and see all the ways you can give to help our neighbors in need.
One of the easiest ways to help out is by donating some of your time helping to pack boxes, sort produce, assist with office and admin, or help in our Neighborhood Hub Food Pantry! You can signup to volunteer through our Volunteer Hub page here.
As a volunteer, you get to see first-hand the work that we do. Hopefully it is inspiring and you will invite a friend (s) to come along!
Hunger Action Day is September 15th, and we’d love to have you with us to help out. Questions? Get in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator Rachel Crowell today!
Become a Monthly Donor and you can provide meals all year long for everyone in our communities!
When you sign up to become a monthly donor with our Full Plate Club, your donation can go farther! A recurring gift means less mail for you, and ensures your gift can have the greatest impact.

Each day at the Food Bank is different and our staff and volunteers are working hard with our local farmers for fresh produce, and providing meals across 15 counties.
During Hunger Action Month, one easy way that you can take action is by following us on Facebook and Instagram, and helping to share Food Bank posts and messages. Sharing our posts helps our messages reach the most people in our community- thank you for being a partner.
You can find our NEW official Food Bank page here!
We’re Open for Tours of our Campus throughout the month of September and all year!
We’re proud of the hard work our staff and volunteers do each day- it’s quite an operation working with over 100 hunger relief partners across 15 counties in Northeastern North Carolina.
Our warehouse is over 44,000 sq. ft. with a floor to ceiling cooler and freezer (which can hold an incredible 500,000 lbs. of food!), and that allows to receive and distribute over 7 Million meals worth of food every year.
Scheduling a tour is easy! Just email your request to:
Brian Gray or Diana Flippo
Learn About Hunger in our Communities and all the ways that you can help.
The more you learn about hunger in our region, the more you can find ways to help and inspire others! One great way is by looking at statistics in your community, through Feeding America’s “Map the Meal Gap” annual study.
The annual study provides insights to each of the 15 counties in our region, including Dare County, Currituck County, Pasquotank and more.
Learn more about the ways that your advocacy efforts can benefit Food Bank of the Albemarle and our hunger relief partners.
Take Action today and you can Make a Real Difference!
You can give a monetary gift, give monthly, volunteer, advocate, help spread awareness, and so much more. But it all starts with a single action! The best part is, you get to choose.
How will you join the fight against hunger?
