Delivery Fee:

Many of our partner agencies receive their monthly food orders via the Rural Delivery Program. Over the past few years, the delivery fee per pound of food has been set at $0.05/lb. Due to rising costs, FBA has found it necessary to make some changes to the budget, including an increase to the delivery fee. In order to make it more equitable, we have based the delivery fee on a tiered system based on geographic distance from Food Bank of the Albemarle. Naturally, deliveries to the outer edges of our region cost more than ones just down the road. Based on this, starting November 1st, 2017, the delivery fee structure will be the following:

Tiered System based on distance
•Close Counties: Pasquotank, Perquimans, Camden (.05)
•Near Counties: Chowan, Gates, Currituck (.06)
•Middle Counties: Hertford, Bertie, Martin, Dare, Washington, Tyrrell (.07)
•Distant Counties: Northampton, Beaufort, Hyde, lower Dare (.08)

In order to keep costs down for our agencies and focus on distributing as much fresh product as possible, the delivery fee for all produce will only be 0.01/lb, no matter the distance. Exceptions may be made for excessively heavy produce (extremely oversized watermelons, as an example).
