Strong partnerships to feed our neighbors
Food Bank of the Albemarle works with over 100 partners across our 15-county service area, with 155 unique programs to help address hunger relief. We collectively believe that plentiful, nutritious food should be available to all of our neighbors, and it is through these partnerships and donors that our communities are fed.
Feeding our Neighbors in Perquimans County
The Food Bank has worked with Open Door Food Pantry of Perquimans County for decades, and in that time their capacity and facility has grown to meet the expanding needs of the community.
Their new facility, which opened on January 5, 2024, was more than just a new building: it was a new opportunity to expand services with a choice pantry. This model allows neighbors to self-select or “shop” for the items they want. This includes canned goods, shelf stable items like rice or dried beans, peanut butter, as well as weekly assortments of fresh produce donated from farmers and the Food Bank’s retail store donation pickup program.
