Food Bank of the Albemarle works with over 100 hunger relief partners operating 145 programs to feed the hungry men, women, and children in the 15 counties we serve. The Food Bank’s vision is that one day, our communities will be hunger-free.
This vision will be accomplished by being committed to providing direct assistance, support, services, advocacy, and education to individuals and non-profit agencies through programs aiming to alleviate hunger and poverty while being good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us.

Food Bank of the Albemarle has SNAP outreach specialists who are trained to help you navigate the process of applying for and recertifying for SNAP food benefits.

The Neighborhood Hub is open and ready to serve! We’re excited to share that the Food Pantry is now a choice-based experience, where you can come in and pick out the food that YOU want.

Backpacks are filled with nutritious, kid-friendly food and are distributed to children to take home on the weekend. This program is designed to ensure children who might go without healthy foods have them over the weekend.

Food Bank of the Albemarle builds strategic partnerships with healthcare providers across our service area. Patients who visit one of these hospitals or clinics are screened for food insecurity and receive a healthy choice or diabetic-friendly food box if needed.

During a disaster situation, non-perishable food items are always in demand. The most essential items needed include: pop top canned meats, fruits, soups, stews and vegetables; peanut butter and jelly; cereal and breakfast bars; bottled water and juices (no glass containers) and personal hygiene items.
